it's the small things

i confess to complaining a lot more than i should about certain aspects of life in rome. the traffic, the garbage, the seemingly permanent stench of urine. ick. i know, too much info right? but one thing they really do right here is food and drink. obviously, it's italy after all! at least twice a week little bit accompanies me on a morning grocery run and her prize for patience is a fresh oj or centrifuga. she loooooves her juice and i can't help but remind myself how lucky we are to be able to have a freshly pressed carrot, apple and orange juice made on demand at just about any corner bar.

blurry iphone pics, apologies, but here is baby c awaiting her elixir.

our last hoorah

on the last day of summer we managed to squeeze in one last swim. it was cool but pleasant. it also got me all sorts of melancholic about the end of my favorite season.

ripe pomegranates hanging from bushes.

we also dabbled in the art of staging. here is baby c on her first modeling gig, in our dinning room. a magazine came and shot our house for an editorial about living with kids. we cruelly sat baby girl at the table with a big fat plate of cookies which she couldn't eat, just before her lunch time, and expected her to look angelic. she did, for the most part. what can i say, she's a natural ;-)

life in our house with kids looks like this, but usually with a little more mess.

good bye summer you fickle friend you. i love you so much but you always leave me too soon.

rome sweet home

i'm back from a fabulous long italian summer vacation and ready to share whatever it is that might be helpful for you on your next trip to rome. i originally threw together this little blog as a way to avoid having to write tens of emails a year to various friends and family and friends of friends visiting italy, who write and ask me for suggestions. that was my intention and then i got all sorts of caught up raising my sweet baby number three and dropped the ball. well, i'm back and i promise over the next few days i'll throw together a more user friendly guide to the eternal city. a short list of places to eat and things to do and where you might want to lay your head. if you have any specific questions feel free to drop me a line and i'll most probably email you back in a relatively timely fashion. or i might not, because i can be lame like that, and if so don't take it personally and try me again.

holla!

here is a peek at little bit. now you tell me if you had to choose between hanging around in bed with her and your morning coffee or sitting at the computer, which would you pick?
thought so.
